Annweiler liegt malerisch im Tal der Queich, umgeben von Bergen und Wäldern. Schauen Sie hinauf zur mächtigen, wiederaufgebauten Burg Trifels. Während der Stauferzeit war sie die Lieblingsburg von Kaiser Friedrich I. Barbarossa und auch das Herzstück des Deutschen Reiches. Denn in ihrer Kapelle wurden, behütet von den Mönchen des nahegelegenen Klosters Eußerthal, die Reichskleinodien verwahrt, deren Nachbildungen besichtigt werden können. Die Trifels wird flankiert von den Burgen Anebos und Scharfenberg, die im Volksmund "Dickkopf" und "Münz" genannt werden. Einen berühmten Gefangenen berherbergte sie in den Jahren 1193/94. Es war Richard Löwenherz, der erst nach Zahlung von Lösegeld freikam. Der Trifels ist immer eine Besichtigung wert!  Annweiler am Trifels, das 1219 durch Staufenkaiser Friedrich II. die Stadtrechte erhielt, hat heute rund 7000 Einwohner, liegt 180 bis 250 m.ü.M. und ist staatlich anerkannter Luftkurort. Seine Lage an der Pforte zum Wasgau mit seinen stillen Wäldern und romantischen Burgruinen, andererseits nur einen Steinwurf entfernt von der Deutschen Weinstraße, macht es zu einem bevorzugten Fremdenverkehrsort.  Mehr Informationen: Annweiler / Trifels

Annweiler / Pfalz  Annweiler is picturesquely situated in the valley of the Queich, surrounded by mountains and forests. You can look up to the powerful, rebuilt castle Trifels. It was the favorite castle of the emperor Friedrich I. Barbarossa during the Staufer period and also the heart of the German Reich. In their chapel, protected by monks of the nearby monastery Eusserthal, are kept the imperial insignia, whose reproductions can be visited. The Trifels is flanked of the castles Anebos and Scharfenberg, which are called in the vernacular "Dickkopf" and "Münz". A famous prisoner stayed here in the years 1193/94. It was Richard lion heart who became released only after a ransom payment. The Trifels is always worth a visit!  Annweiler at the Trifels, which received municipal rights 1219 by Staufenkaiser Friedrich II., has today approximately 7000 inhabitants and is located 180 to 250 meters above sea level. It is nationally recognized as an air health resort. Its location at the gate to  the Wasgau with its quiet forests and romantic castle ruins, and at the same token only one stone throw away from the German wine street, makes it a favorite tourist attraction. Wegbeschreibung

Entfernung:  72 Km von Ramstein,  Fahrzeit mit dem Auto: 1h  22min. Fahren Sie von Ramstein nach Landstuhl, dann auf die Autobahn “A6” Richtung Kaiserslautern. Fahren Sie “Kaiserslautern Mitte” ab und dann in Richtung “Innenstadt”, folgen Sie dann den Wegweisern Richtung “Universität”. Wenn Sie an der Universität angekommen sind fahren Sie in Richtung “Johanneskreuz”. Von Johanneskreuz bleiben Sie auf der “B 48” bis Annweiler. Wenn Sie vor Annweiler aus den Tunnel kommen fahre Sie die erste Abfahrt “Annweiler” ab. Nehmen Sie dann im Kreisverkehr die Zweite Ausfahrt und dann die nächste Straße links rein. Fahren Sie dieser Straße nach und dann rechts ab, folge Sie den Wegweisern “Burg Trifels”.

Distance: 72 Km from Ramstein,  time of travel by car: 1h  22min. Drive from Ramstein to Landstuhl, than go on the Autobahn “A6” to Kaiserslautern. Take the “Kaiserslautern-Mitte” exit, follow the priority road tort the “Innenstadt”, and follow the Signs “Universität”. When you arrives at the Universität hang right and drive tort “Johanneskreuz”. After Johanneskreuz stay on the “B48” till Annweiler. When you get out of the tunnel before Annweiler take the first exit “Annweiler”. On the following round-about take the second exit and than the next street on the left. Drive down the road and take the next street on the right, follow the signs “Burg Trifels”.
