Burg Beaufort
Das Schmuckstück der Gemeinde Beaufort. Erstmals urkundlich erwähnt im 12. Jahrhundert. Jährlich besuchen fast 100.000 Menschen diese malerisch gelegene Festung aus alter Zeit.
Geschichte der Burg Beaufort
Über die Ursprünge der Beauforter Burg ist nicht allzu viel bekannt. Jedoch läßt sich die Baugeschichte durch Parallelen mit anderen Luxemburger Burgen zurückverfolgen.
Gegen Ende des 12. Jahrhunderts wurden die Herren von Beaufort zum ersten mal urkundlich erwähnt. Der Bau der sogenannten Kernburg wird deshalb auch auf diese Zeit datiert. Erster Herr war Wauthier, sire de Wiltz et de Beaufort, 1192 erwähnt.
Kernburg
In der Kernanlage der Beauforter Burg sind deutliche Spuren der ersten Bauphase, z.B. die romanischen Doppelfenster in der Nordostecke, zu sehen.
Dagegen sind in der gleichen Anlage, also ebenfalls in der Kernburg, bereits gotische Fenster aus der zweiten Bauphase festzustellen.

History of the castle Beaufort
Over the origins of the Beauforter castle not too much is well known. However, the history can be retraced by parallels with other Luxemburger castles. Toward end of the 12. Century, Beaufort was mentioned for the first time in a documentary. The building of the so-called core castle is dated also on this time. First owner was Wauthier, sire de Wiltz et de Beaufort, mentioned in 1192.
Core castle
In the core of the Beauforter castle clear tracks of the first building phase, e.g. the roman double windows in the north east corner can be seen. On the other hand in the same system, in the core castle can also gothic windows from the second building phase can be found.
